Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle and non-invasive form of body work which stimulates the entire lymphatic system, boosts metabolism, boosts the immune system and helps the body to eliminate waste.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage applies very light pressure and long, rhythmic strokes which help to increase the flow of the lymph fluid. MLD helps reducing swelling, clears blockages in the lymph system, it helps transport nutrients to cells and increase the metabolism.

MLD uses very  light pressure and pumping action along the lymph system it can be done either fully clothed or on bare skin, using drapes to only expose the area being worked on. No oils are used.

Use lymphatic drainage massage if you have noticed a slow down in your metabolism, increase in hormonal imbalances, increase in allergies, feeling sluggish or heavier than normal or brain fog. Many times these symptoms can be a sign that there is a blockage in the lymphatic system.

Your lymphatic system can easily become stagnant, especially when it becomes overwhelmed with toxic debris, which is very common in the modern world. This not only leads impaired immunity and disease, but the development of cellulite, fluid retention, chronic pain and fatty deposits. A sluggish lymphatic flow can also be a root cause of chronic sinusitis; swollen glands, ankles and eyes; eczema; arthritis; upper respiratory, sinus and ear infections; throat problems; colds and an overall lack of energy and vitality.

Benefits of lymphatic drainage massage

It helps the body fight infections and accelerate healing and illness recovery.

Reduces the chance of suffering colds and viruses

Help strengthen the immune system as part of “detox” treatment.

It helps to improve the metabolic rate.

It reduces water retention in your body due to prolonged sitting hours. If you experience water retention, you may suffer from swollen feet, and this is because the lymph has no pump as blood vessels and can’t flow.

It helps to improve the skin texture by accelerating the healing of scar tissues, reducing swelling, and improving your pores.

It is one of the most effective ways to treat post-surgical Lymphedema.

Help strengthen the immune system as part of “detox” treatment.

Relieves fluid congestion: swollen ankles, tired puffy eyes and swollen legs due to pregnancy.

Is an effective component of the treatment and control of lymphoedema (which may occur after cancer treatment) and assists in conditions arising from venous insufficiency.

Can be used to speed healing after cosmetic surgery.

How often should I have MLD?
Physical activity stimulates the lymphatic system and helps to detoxify the body, meaning that people who lead sedentary lifestyles will require more treatments than others. For example, a person who is required to rest in bed or has had an illness for a period of time may require one or two sessions per week, while a person who exercises three or more times a week may only need one a month, or even every two months. A person  recovering from surgery would benefit from weekly sessions to help reduce swelling and speed recovery.

Regular lymphatic drainage can help boost your immune system and help your body in it’s natural process of detoxification.

"It was so great to experience the way Sally worked on my back, going deep and intuitively loosening any knots and leaving me completely relaxed and almost pain free. I have a long standing issue with my neck and the pains shooting down my arms and the massage has definitely helped me to sleep better. Sally is also very warm but lets you enjoy your massage without much chatting and plays lovely soothing music. I will be back!"
